Philosophy
Moscow Day School strives for a family atmosphere.
Throughout the day both rooms come together, so the younger children
learn from their older peers, and the older children experience the
satisfaction and confidence that comes from helping their younger
classmates.
Classroom activities are designed to accomplish certain objectives but children are free to move about, ask questions, or choose another project if they desire. We keep our teacher-student ratio low to ensure this kind of flexibility.
Behavioral rules are based on treating others with respect and politeness, and are modeled for the children by their teachers and aides. Our students are encouraged to view their peers as teammates in learning, and are never pressured to compete with others. They are guided by the teachers and aides who seek to support each child's development. The staff carefully monitors this individual development and shares their observations with parents at formal and informal conference times.
While the staff recognizes their serious responsibilities, they also understand that fun and laughter are important elements in an early childhood curriculum. The purpose of the school is to nurture and strengthen children's natural curiosity and love of learning, while teaching then to have fun together!
Moscow Day School has a policy of nondiscrimination in employment, educational programs, and activities on the basis of race, national origin, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, or political beliefs. Moscow Day School is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
