MDS Curriculum

Moscow Day School uses the Creative Curriculum as its foundational curriculum. The Creative Curriculum’s overarching goal is to help children become enthusiastic, life-long learners. Building enthusiasm for learning means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. The Creative Curriculum encourages children to be independent, self-confident, and inquisitive; to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. It aims to help them build good habits, great attitudes and a positive self-image.

The Creative Curriculum identifies goals for all areas of child development:
  • Social: to help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are part of the group.
  • Emotional: to help children experience pride and confidence, develop independence and self-control, and have a positive attitude toward life.
  • Cognitive: to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills like the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.
  • Physical: to help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.
The activities planned for the children, the way the environment is organized, the toys and materials selected, the daily schedule, and the way we talk with children - all are designed to accomplish the goals of the curriculum and give the children a successful start in school.
