Wellness Policy
This is a well-child childcare center. This means that if your child is not feeling well, for any reason, you will need to find alternate care. Control of communicable illness between childcare is a prime concern. Policies and guidelines related to outbreaks of communicable illness have been developed with the help of local health officials. In order to protect the entire group of children, as well as your own child, we ask that parents assist Moscow Day School by not bringing their child if he/she has a contagious illness or exhibits any of the following symptoms:
-
Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
-
Severe coughing/sneezing in the last 24 hours
-
Vomiting, in excess of typical infant spit-ups in the last 24 hours
-
Diarrhea within the last 24 hours
-
Conjunctivitis (pink eye) while in the contagious stages
-
Hand, Foot and Mouth while in the contagious stages
-
Ringworm while in the contagious stages
-
Unusual or unexplained loss of appetite, fatigue, irritability, or headache
-
Bleeding other than minor cuts and scrapes
-
A communicable disease (measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc)
-
Excessive colored discharge from eyes or nose, indicating possible infection. (i.e. if a teacher has wiped the nose 6+ times over the course of an hour) (updated 11/23/2021)
-
Head lice
-
Unexplainable rash

In general, if your child is not feeling well enough to go outside and play, then your child is too sick to attend childcare. If your child becomes ill while at school, you will be phoned or messaged on Procare and asked to pick your child up. It is required that your child is picked up by a family member or an approved pick up adult within 30 minutes of the pick up notice.

Children must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication before they are able to return to school.

When in doubt, please stay home, notify the school through Procare.

Vomiting/Diarrhea - If one or more episodes of vomiting/diarrhea occur within the previous 24 hours, your child shall be excluded from the program. If vomiting/diarrhea occurs during the school day, parents will be called and asked to pick up your child immediately. Gagging due to excessive crying does not constitute vomiting.

If your child has a common cold (slight cough, sneezing, clear runny nose and or a temperature below 100 degrees) your child may attend school. Please note that we may require a doctor's note for attendance. However, if your child reaches a point when he/she requires constant attention, will not play, cries continuously, whines and wants to be held constantly, then your child will need to stay home.

Please dispense all medication at home whenever possible. For times when this is not possible, a Medication Authorization Form must be filled out in order for a member of our staff to dispense any medications. All prescriptions and over-the-counter medications must be in their original container(s), and prescriptions must display the pharmacist's label with the doctor's name. If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss them with the Director.

Please know that every situation is different and will be reviewed as such. We reserve the right to amend these statements, require a physician's note or ask for additional information regarding each situation as it develops. Our school and our family's safety is our top priority.

IMPORTANT - If you bring your child knowing they had symptoms prior to the 24 hours or enter the facility while you or your child are sick, such actions will constitute a breach of contract and your child may be terminated from Moscow Day School immediately and indefinitely.
